Manchurian Golden Pharaoh Quail are rather pretty
birds.
They are golden in color with a darker brown color on the tips of each
feather. They are around 4 - 5 inches tall until the males
decides
it is time to look for a mate. At that time they stretch up to
around
6 - 7 inches tall and let out the neatest call. Most generally,
the
males are slightly smaller than the females. It is nice to see
the
coloring stand out against everything unless they get it into their
heads
that they want to hang out in a stand of grass and all. Makes it
real hard to find them if they get away from you. After awhile they get
to know you and at feeding time instead of trying to get away they will
come and get onto your arms or hands, cock their heads and talk to you
while you are filling their feeders. If you want these as a pet
it
is best to handle all them all the time, so they get used to you.
These birds make the ideal pet for either indoors or outdoors,
depending
on your preference.
